March 12th: No sleep.... It has been a very hectic weekend as we have worked day and night with the preparations. Me, Wanja, Henrik and Martin has spent every hour at Barkarby airport where our aircraft is located at the moment. The main task has been to install the NavAero system (paperless cockpit), but an even more challanging task has been to get the HF radio working. We have all equipment we need, but it is really rocket science to get everything working. The problem is to get the antenna to work with the frequencies that we will use as we cross the Pacific Ocean, but also parts of Asia. As we connected the HF radio to the airplane electrical system there was to much disturbance and it was impossible to hear a single word on the radio. As the radio was connected to a separate battery we could get rid of much distortion. As we flew the second test flight we could talk to Stockholm radio and also hear Shannon radio from Ireland! TERRIFIC!
