March 22: Replanning

During our last flight we experienced a minor problem with the aircraft, not a critical problem but still something that we wanted to have fixed. Therefore we did a quick replanning of our program and set heading for Austria and Diamond aircraft again. It felt very strange going northbound, crossing areas with icing and clouds. We picked up some icing over the mountains of serbia and we got a opportunity to test the deicing system for real. I must say that we were both very delighted by the deicing capacity of the aircraft. Since it is a TKS system the most important thing is to operate it in time before to much ice has accumulated, so we did and it worked out fine.

Again we have to say thanks to the hospitallity we got from the people at The hearing Centre of Crete, they really took well care of us! Also did George, the flightschool manager in Crete, he helped us out with all the practical issues at the airport.

Tomorrow (Thursday) the Diamond engineers will have a look at our issue (a fuel indication problem) so hopefully we will be ready to head south already in the afternoon. Thanks to quick replanning and good support from the Diamond staff we were able to have our aircraft overlooked right away.

We rounded off this long day with a nice Wienerschnitzel and a glass of good german brewing culture.

Hey Henrik and Johan; be careful with those winerschnitzels. You know you need to get in shape before you head for Hawaii. I hear rumors thats says pilot no 3 still needs to loose some weight. Guess you don't want to use that life raft of yours...
